Hot honey has been having a moment lately and honestly, we get it. Drizzle it over pizza, fried chicken, roasted veggies, grain bowls - it instantly upgrades just about anything with its perfect mix of heat and sweetness.
But what makes hot honey so good is not just the spice. It is about using high-quality, flavor-packed honey as the base. Real hot honey should taste layered, think floral, rich, spicy, and bright, not just like sugar with a kick. That is why we are starting with the real good stuff: Caney Fork Farms Raw Honey.
Our honey is unpasteurized and untouched, coming straight from the hives that live among our fields and flowering native grasses. These hardworking bees not only help pollinate our veggies and chestnut orchards, they create a honey that is brimming with natural enzymes, bee propolis, antioxidants, and trace pollen. You can taste the difference. You can feel the difference too. Raw honey is celebrated for its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and immune-boosting properties.
And now? You are about to turn that farm-fresh honey into a spicy condiment you will want to put on everything.
DIY Hot Honey Recipe
Ingredients:
-
1 cup Caney Fork Farms Raw Honey
-
2 to 3 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (adjust based on how spicy you like it)
-
1 to 2 tsp apple cider vinegar (for a slight tangy kick)
-
A pinch of salt
Instructions:
-
In a small saucepan, gently warm the honey over low heat. You do not want it to boil, just warm it enough to become nice and runny.
-
Stir in the crushed red pepper flakes and a pinch of salt. Let it steep over low heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
-
Remove from heat and stir in the apple cider vinegar.
-
Let the honey cool for about 10 to 15 minutes to allow the flavors to deepen.
-
Strain the honey through a fine mesh sieve if you want a smooth finish, or leave the pepper flakes in for extra kick and a rustic look.
Pour your hot honey into a clean jar or squeeze bottle. It will keep for months in your pantry, if you can make it last that long.
Ways to Use It:
-
Drizzle over roasted veggies
-
Top off pizzas or flatbreads
-
Stir into marinades and dressings
-
Drizzle over cottage cheese or Greek yogurt
-
Add to a grain bowl like our Ground Beef & Sweet Potato Bowls (check back for recipe) for the ultimate sweet heat upgrade
